Composition
The principle alloying element in Grade 7xxx alloys is Zinc, which accounts for up to 12.0% of these alloys by weight. Additional alloying elements include; ≤3.7 Magnesium, ≤2.8 Copper, ≤1.4 Iron, ≤0.8 Manganese, ≤0.5 Silicon, ≤0.5 Zirconium, ≤0.35
Chromium, ≤0.2 Titanium, ≤0.16 Nickel, ≤0.1 Vanadium, ≤0.03 Gallium, ≤0.01 Bismuth & ≤0.01 Lead

Weldability
Aside from spot welding, Grade 7xxx Alloys are very difficult to weld, the exception being 7072.
